More skiing was had this weekend, this time with Jim in tow. He wants to learn to tether me so we can go out by ourselves, but I think he scared my instructors by asking, as we waited to board the lift for our first run, “How do I stop?” Thankfully we both improved as the day went on. Ever prepared, Jim brought his Camelbak, and one instructor thought it looked hilarious when I drank out of it and insisted we get a picture:
More pictures from both trips at my flickr.
I think I may actually be a sport-y person at heart, and just never knew it since I was too busy falling all over the damn place to have any fun. Now that I’ve discovered adaptive sports, where no standing/running/balancing needs to be involved, I realize that, for the first time in my life, I truly enjoy being active and doing sport-y things.
Next up are rowing and cycling with Pennsylvania Center for Adapted Sports (who I ski and swim with), which both start in the spring. Also, playing Wii bowling and tennis has made me want to try the real thing. Stay tuned for more stories of me playing sports and not falling on my ass- how fantastic is that?

If you go bowling, try something for me, and let me know how it works out: First off, I am left handed. When I bowled, several times in a row I ended up hooking the ball into the right gutter. I then decided to move over and released from the right side of the lane (still left handed). I don’t know why I thought this would help, but every time, I was able to send one down the middle of the lane. I think it was a psychological thing.
