Vegan Treats is a fantastic place about an hour and a half outside of Philadelphia. They deliver donuts, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and other goodies to restaurants and cafes all over the area, but sometimes you just want to go right to the source. And the donuts, my latest obsession, are only delivered once a week to the place in town I sometimes get them. My donut craving will not be bound by the calendar! So yesterday when my best friend asked if I wanted to make a Vegan Treats trip, I enthusiastically affirmed.
Note that this trip was less impromptu than our last, a few months ago. We were sitting at Mugshots, just having finished our breakfast and not feeling satisfied, when she proposed a trip. This time I had 18 hours advance notice- plenty of time to get excited, but not enough to go crazy.
Enough with the setup. I know all you really want is pictures.
You can’t really tell, but my brownie was dusted in shimmery gold. Here is is with my peanut butter soft serve, and Liesa’s Boston Creme donut and soft serve lurking behind.

The donuts I got to go- pumpkin!! and coconut creme-filled.

Their case full of mini-cakes and -cheesecakes, including seasonal cakes (see the top row- the orange ones have frosting spiderwebs piped on top, and the green ones were a sort of monster-eye thing).

I got back 4 hours ago and my 2 take-home donuts are still intact, in the nice pink box. I don’t know how much longer I can wait. But when I come home late tonight from watching the Phillies maybe win the World Series, those donuts will be the best drunk food ever. (I don’t even like baseball. I’m only in it for the partying…and the drunk donuts.)

How do the donuts compare to “regular” donuts? All of the vegan donuts I’ve tried so far have been rather tough, and oilier than I like. Can you tell me more?
